What InverseAudit does
InverseAudit is an energy auditing platform for commercial buildings. It builds a calibrated energy model of your building from monthly or interval meter data, without the effort that manual modeling and calibration require.

- Create a baseline for your building.
- Enter its meter data, geometry, systems and rates.
- Run the calibration. InverseAudit tunes the model until it matches your meter data.
- Review the benchmark results.
- Subscribe the baseline to unlock the energy audit.
- In the energy audit, try energy conservation measures and see their savings and payback.
- Post the report so your contacts and clients can see it.
Why a model should be calibrated
Energy modeling is not always accurate, especially for older existing buildings. A model’s accuracy is limited by the complexity of buildings. It also depends on operational factors such as schedules and occupancy, how systems and equipment are operated, plug loads and weather.1 A model that hasn’t been calibrated with utility data isn’t accurate, so it should be calibrated before energy cost savings are calculated.
Why use InverseAudit
- It creates and calibrates a model based on your utility data and historical weather data. This leads to an accurate and representative model of your building.
- You can perform an energy audit equivalent to an ASHRAE Level 2 energy audit.
InverseAudit can be used for:
- ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits
- Building Energy Ordinance programs
- LEED O+M: Existing Buildings
Methodologies and standards
InverseAudit incorporates industry standards such as:
- ASHRAE Standard 90.1
- ASHRAE Standard 211
- IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol)
It combines them with its own calibration methods.
