What you need
The information to have ready before you create your first baseline.
General information
- Occupancy type
- Building area (GSF)
- Building stories
- Building address - Used to find your building’s footprint on the map and to pick the weather data.
- Operating hours - Required only for monthly data. For example, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and the number of floors operating 24/7.
- Parking area (optional) - Required only for the ENERGY STAR score.
Meter data
- Monthly data - 12 months of utility bills.
- Interval data - 12 months (13 recommended) of 15-, 30- or 60-minute meter data, usually from a smart meter or a BEMS (Building Energy Management System). Interval data gives a more accurate model.
Systems
- Only high-level information about the HVAC and domestic hot water systems is required. For example, a rooftop unit with electric heat.
- For monthly data, the building’s lighting and HVAC schedules are also required.
Good to have
- Your utility rates. Without them you can use an average rate, but demand cost savings and utility incentives aren’t calculated.
No as-built architectural or mechanical drawings are required.
